It is every couple’s dream to grow old together “for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, ‘til death do us part” as the vow goes. Apparently, for this Chinese couple, this isn’t the case. A Chinese woman wanted to test how much her soon-to-be-husband truly loves her and instantly got her answer on the day of their pre-wedding photo shoot.
26-year-old Qing Kao from Shenzhen, China, put on gray and white streaks on her hair and wrinkles on her face to look like she’s 50 years old. She wanted to test if her fiancé would still accept and love her even if she already looks older.
Unfortunately, the would-be-groom, Guo Chien failed to see the humor in her prank.
The couple started quarreling and screaming at each other in the middle of Dongmen Old Street in Shenzhen.
A crowd gathered around them, and curious onlookers started taking photos and videos as they were fighting about Qing Kao’s appearance.
Chien asked Kao to remove the wrinkly make up, but she insisted on wearing it during their pre-nuptial shoot. Kao exhorted that appearances don’t matter, and that it should be okay for them to take pictures with her looking like an old lady.
Chien felt so frustrated with his fiance’s insistence on keeping the grandma-like look. He felt that arguing was futile. He threw his glasses to the ground, rode a taxi, and left Kao desperately sobbing in the streets.
Onlookers say that the “old bride” waited for Chien to come back, but he never did. After crying uncontrollably, she also took the taxi to come home.
