WELCOME SEE THE VILLAGE WHERE THEY EAT HUMAN FLESH AS MEAT

In the southern-eastern Paupa, there is a tribe with the name of Korowai, or Kolufu about which there was little known before the 1970’s. They live in the south-eastren part, of the western part of the New Guinea, and it is said that they are the only living humans who still eat human flesh. There are about 3000 Korowai people still living in these areas, and before 1970’s they were unaware of the fact that there was life besides themselves.

The Korowai have been reported to practice ritual cannibalism up to the present day. Anthropologists suspect that cannibalism is no longer practiced by the Korowai clans, that have had frequent contact with outsiders. Recent reports suggest that certain clans have been coaxed into encouraging tourism by perpetuating the myth that it is still an active practice.
