JUST IN...NIGERIA ARMY PRESENTS EXOTIC WEAPONS RECOVERED FROM AGATU COMMUNITIES


The special adviser to the governor on security, Retired Colonel Edwin Jando has presented exotic weapons reportedly recovered from Agatu communities after a recent army raid.
Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom has given a 72-hour ultimatum to the militia operating in Agatu to surrender themselves to the police or face military action, Natinal Helm reports.
Governor Ortom sympathized with the army of the death of a soldier who was reportedly killed by the Agatu militia.
Recall that the Nigerian army stormed about six Agatu communities in Agatu local government of Benue state after some youths reportedly killed a soldier. Six lives, including that of a pregnant woman were reportedly lost in the raid.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Clement Apeere has explained why it became necessarry for the army to invade the communities.
Apeere said there were hoodlums hiding in the communities and these hoodlums are responsible for several attacks including the one that cost a soldier’s life.
Apeere said that troops of 72 special force battalion were deployed to the area to recover arms and ammunition and the body of a slain soldier that was attacked by some Agatu youths.
