A 183cm long tapeworm was extracted from the guts of a 48-year-old Indian man.
The patient came to the doctor complaining about sever stomach pain and the doctors found out that the cause of the discomfort was a gigantic tapeworm living in his guts.
Tests indicated that he patient had a large segment of the worm living in his colon and an even larger part of the worm curled up inside his small intestine.
Surgeons managed to pull the tapeworm from the guts of the man during an operation that lasted about an hour and was given dr*gs to treat the rest of the symptoms.
The doctors believe that the worm they extracted from the man’s guts was the largest tapeworm they’ve ever seen.
Such tapeworms are considered one of the most dangerous parasites because of their ability to migrate to different vital organs in the human body which could lead to death if left untreated.
Such parasites are most common in Southeast Asia, Africa and South America.
The worm was a whopping 183cm long!
